Description
Manhole is a safety emergency ventilation device installed on the top of the storage tank. It is usually used together with fire extinguisher and mechanical breather valve. It can not only avoid accidents caused by sudden overpressure or vacuum in the tank and damage the tank, but also play a role of safety and fire resistance. It is a safety device to protect the storage tank, especially suitable for the dome roof atmospheric pressure tank with materials sealed with nitrogen. Manholes have been formed, usually 600mm in diameter. The distance between manhole center and floor is generally 750mm. It is convenient for personnel to enter and exit the oil tank or ventilate during installation, cleaning and maintenance.
The manhole of the non-metallic oil tank is arranged on the top of the tank, and the manhole of the metal oil tank is arranged on the lowest ring plate of the tank wall. Most of them are round holes with a diameter of 600mm, of which the distance between the center and the bottom plate is 750mm, which are used by tank cleaning or maintenance personnel to access the tank, also known as the gate. Manholes shall be used for lighting and ventilation during maintenance and cleaning of oil tanks. When the capacity of vertical oil tank is less than 5000m3, 1-2 manhole shall be set, and when it is more than 5000m3, 2 manhole shall be set. The installation of manhole shall be no more than 90 ° away from the oil pipeline. When only one manhole is provided, it shall be placed on the opposite side of the transparent hole on the top of the tank; when two manhole are provided, one shall be placed on the opposite side of the transparent hole, and the other shall be at least 90 ° away from the first manhole.
The manhole shall be set near the right side of the oil inlet and outlet pipe, and the manhole shall be close to the tank chamber as far as possible, so as to facilitate personnel access, maintenance and ventilation of the oil tank
Installation and maintenance
The manhole is located at the lower part of the oil tank and bears great liquid pressure. In order to prevent leakage, the installation quality of the manhole must be strictly required. Sealing water line is processed on flange and cover plate, and attention shall be paid to protection during construction to avoid oil leakage during use. Mark each time the manhole is removed to avoid misplacement during reassembly and affect the tightness. When installing the nuts on the manhole cover plate, evenly apply force to the opposite corners to prevent oil leakage caused by the deformation or uneven force of the cover plate.
